Before The Marathon

The last long run before the Marathon was on Saturday starting at the Cotter reserve at 7:00 am. on 8th April.
(Contrary to my previous posting.)

This was the day of the Marathon Eve 5km and 10km Fun runs.

After the morning run, I proceeded to Telopea Park from 2:30pm, messed about in the Expo, and then went and got the Starting Gun and timing clocks ready.

Mick C fired the gun at 4:00 pm and both runs got under way, there was a great finish in the 5km event in 14:50, Corey Tucker outspinting Gomechu Woyecha, and the 10km taken out by Simon Hurt who came in 4th (I think) last year.

We clicked away on the printer timers, for all of the runners, 5km and 10km finishers being mixed together over the line, and being sorted out in the results process, having different sets of numbers.

Then Sunday morning with a similar start procedure for the Marathon, leaving home at just after 6:00 am, and getting back home afterwards at about 2:30pm.

We clicked away for all finishers in the Marathon and the 50km Ultra, meaning that the Ultra runners were clicked twice, with their results being sorted in the results processing.

We diverted down to Bowen Park, and gave the runners support (this was around the 10km mark) and returned along the Western side of Bowen Park, giving the runners some more encouragement. Also took some photos on the mobile phone, and caught the Kids in the Kids Marathon final 2.195km on the day.

Read all the reports on Cool Running today, and listened to Courtney Love's Podcasts.

Also delivered some of the mobile phone photos today, and called into Vodafone Woden to ask a few questions of the experts there, about memory sticks and where to buy them, and how to make best use of them.

Until Next Time.
