The Canberra Times Fun Run 2013

A record number of participants took part in The Canberra Times Fun Run, raising more than $97,000 for 195 charities around Australia.
 
Heart Foundation ACT ambassador, Lee Campbell fired the starting gun for the new 14km Capital Run, while Brumbies and Australian Wallaby player, Joe Tomane, started the 10km Fun Run, as more than 5,800 entrants ran, walked and wheeled their way through the scenic streets of Canberra.
 
Setting the first course record for the new 14km Capital Run was Australian Olympic marathon athlete, Martin Dent from Cook, who crossed the finish line in 44:47. The fight for second place was on as Lindsey Wall from Holt crossed just ahead of Michael Chapman from Nicholls, with times of 46:28 and 46:35 respectively.
 
The first female across the 14km finish line was Rhiannon Snipe from Bruce who ran a time of 52:15. Coming in second and third was Angela Bateup from Yass and Hanny Allston from Cook, who closely followed with times of 53:11 and 53:39.
 
From the wheelchair category, Richard Nicholson from Melba crossed the line first with a time of 34:48.
 
Chris Hamer from Bruce crossed the 10km finish line first, with a time of 30:04. Not far behind was 2012 winner, Gemechu Woyecha from Florey who placed second with a time of 31:53. Third place went to Matthew Fenech from Kingston in 32:02.
 
Natalie Archer from Yarralumla was the first female to finish the 10km event with a time of 35:40. Archer was closely followed by Celia Sullohern from Bar Beach and Fleur Flanery from Yass with times of 36:12 and 36:19.
 
The adidas 5km Run and Walk saw Marcus Leopoldo from North Strathfield place first, running a time of 18:29, William Zeitlhofer from Forrest came second in 19:16 and Lionel Meehan, from Carlton, came third with a time of 19:39.
 
The first female to cross the finish line was Hannah Legge-Wilkinson from Nicholls, with a time of 21:00. Closely following was Jordyne Rauter and Nina Illingworth, with times of 22:02 and 22:16 respectively.

Rick Hatcher finished in a time of 1:11:23. He has completed all of the 10 km runs.
