BBQ STAKES Xmas Relay 11th December 2013.
Kerrie Tanner posted the following.
What a great turn out for the Xmas relays. Due to the queue at the finish signing in Matthew Murphy had to slow down (bugger) this caused him and Richard Juckes to win beating Leah Afiabo & myself by less than 2 seconds as Dolph Page & Leanne Wilkes finished 2 seconds behind the winners for third. Great turn out of 27 teams. Thanks Adrian for organising the BBQ & drinks, the Runners Shop for barrel prizes and everyone for turning up. Next Wednesday day one of the pointscore.
Other results tonight, pointscore winner Stephen Murphy followed by Richard Juckes and Rodd Rundle. Honest John award went to Kevin Chapman.
Doug Fry added:-
Again, Laura Toyne and Tony Sergi teamed up together, Jen Bright competed by running solo I think, Roger Pilkington and Rad Leovic again teamed up, they have been well placed many times, thanks to Judy Kuleas and Brian Crowe for cooking the BBQ items so well.
Results will be posted here when available.

Chris Higgins From john Harding's blog
John Wrote:-
Am feeling rather sad right now.
I just watched Kerry O'Brien's interview with Paul Keating on the ABC.
They recounted the night that Chris Higgins, the Secretary of the Treasury, died out at the AIS track.
Keating described Higgins as one of the most brilliant minds and greatest leaders in Australian history because of the work he did to transform the Australian economy in the Hawke/Keating government.
So it was a huge shock to Keating when Chris died after running a 400 and a 3000 on a hot night out at the track.
One hour before he passed away he had been raking the sandpit and I had been joking with him about a running story.
I went home and an hour later Geoff Moore rang and told me Chris was dead. I was stunned.

BBQ Stakes 4th December 2013
BBQ Stakes 4th December 2013
Timekeeper was Florian Benz the winner on 27th November, second was Rad Leovic last week and third was Francine Austin.
Matthew Murphy has now retired so is now a member of that team. Rad Leovic had a net time of 48:37 today, and Heather Powrie returned today, and looked like she suffered in the heat. We were told Adrian's mother in law recently passed away, that's why he missed the stakes today.
Geoff Hawke was today's winner in 50:06 across the line Jen Bright and Matthew Murphy were in the team for the Others, which won the teams event.
Next Week is the annual relay event, announcements and annual awards will be made.
There is only one event that day, teams of two in a relay, closest to 50 minutes will win.
The relay will start at about 5:30 pm, followed by a BBQ and prizes awarded for the year.
