Australia Day Fun Run in Canberra 2007

Since there was to be NIL Australia Day Fun Run in Canberra 2007, it was suggested that the Customs Joggers hold their run on Australia day.

The idea was soon up and running, despite forebodings of the Commonwealth Park area being full to overcrowded with people, who would have grabbed all of the available shady spots, and grassed areas for picnicking on this day.

All the forebodings turned to nought however, as there seemed to be no large crowd, and plenty of parking.

A good collection of regulars turned up for the run, but the handicaps had not yet been reset due to administrative problems. Thus we ran according to the previous week's start times, and results will be adjusted to determine the winner for the day.

Flashduck, PRB, DP, NB, BC, Friar, PC, PB, GW, KO, JW, DG, RH, PT, GM, are some of those who turned up.
Mike was good enough to bring some cooled drinks for after the run, although he had recently been injured, and walked the course. Nick decided to look after the valuables, and held the watch, and called out finishing times, across the line.

Commonwealth Park activities on the day included a Citizenship ceremony, a free breakfast, Australia All Over, Face Painting, Pat the Farm Animals, Stalls for purchasing a bite to eat, stalls selling drinks and coffee, Steam Engine working models.

Until Next Time

Happy Australia Day to you Doug. I usually can't get to those Customs runs as I find it difficult to get away from work. Today was one day I could have done it and it didn't even occur to me that I could have done it! I will get there when I can.
