Passport Renewal

Having recently made a flight booking, which for booking in purposes requires photo identification, I scrambled through my photo identification articles, and could only find an expired drivers licence, and an old, soon to be expired passport.

Hence it was decided that I must renew my passport, although I think you have a two year grace period to renew.

So, it was a phone call to the immigration depatment to have a new application form sent. Then off to the shopping centre to have a passport photo taken.

Done quickly at Foxys photos in Woden plaza.

Then off to the post office, to make an appointment for a passport interview.

The interview happens next week.

At the moment then, it is just a matter of waiting to see what happens next week ar the interview.

The Australian Passport Office is trialling a system where your passport can be renewed up to two years after expiry. You can either complete your renewal form using the Renew Passport function on this website, or you can telephone APIS on 131 232 and they will forward an application form with your biographic data included. You may then renew your passport using this streamlined process. Please note that holders of children’s passports cannot use the renewal form.

Thanks Friar. I need to renew mine. So does this mean you don't need a post office interview? Just a new photograph?

Turned up at the post office today, and was told the form I had was out of date, it had been sent in Februsry this year, so the moral is, if you get a form to renew the passport, get in there pronoto.

They will send a new form, so I have an appointment for next Friday, and I'll get in there pronto.
