Too Young for a Marathon
I hope the young person mentioned is not intending to run the Marathon, but one of the associated events.

MORE than 8000 people from 23 countries have entered this year's Gold Coast marathon on Sunday, July 6.
Plenty of entries have come from the major international markets of Japan, New Zealand and the United States, but there has also been an influx from Korea, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the UK.
Even Jersey, Argentina, Italy and Austria will be represented.
There are 82 years exactly between the youngest and oldest participants.
The youngest, Newcastle's Patrick Bognar, will celebrate his fifth birthday on race day, as will the eldest, Ipswich's Joy Ward, who will turn 87.

This has to be in a 5k walk or something similar. Any organiser should be shot or at least severely sued if they have let 5 year old enter a marathon! Just an example of typical careless journalism, I would say.
Good grief - one would imagine that was a typo unless of course the 5 year old is being pushed in a stroller!!
It must be the walk!
Good to see you running again Friar :)
