Top skaters figure in strong ACT Team

Noticed in PB Canberra Times 11 th October 2011.

The ACT has named a strong squad for the Australian Figure Skating Championships in Brisbane in December.

Bethany McMahon and Karuna Henderson, who both placed at last year's event, will again skate for the ACT.

Karuna's mother, a few years ago, brought the refreshments to the Women's and Girl's Jogalong for quite some time, although not a strong runner, she performed that task for quite a long time.

Haruna's mother, was the person, who helped us get over the first weeks after the Canberra bushfires.

Karuna was the youngest to reach 50mini jogs and still has her t-shirt, which now fits her! She was originally came to the Jogalong pushed in a jogging stroller, then went to the wonderful childcare the cross country club began offering. She waited desperately for her 3rd birthday so she could start running in the mini jog. She remains very athletic, training 5-6days a week for skating and mountain biking, and earlier this year won fittest ACT Junior athlete for her age. Mum is still trying to resolve a long standing injury.

thanks for the appreciation! its a nice surprise to be remembered for what was a relatively small contribution to the jogalong - but of course many hands make light work for the hardworking organisers. Karuna and I have fond memories of attending over many years. maybe i'll be back soon to try and make the 200 runs. Karunas mum.
