BBQ Stakes Wednesday 6 th July 2011

BBQ Stakes Wednesday 6 th July 2011

A very cold day, and following some rain recently, made the course today rather a trial, as the part of the track on the hill had been churned up, meaning that some runners returned with mud sticking to their running shoes.

45 runners today, was slightly down on usual numbers of 55 or so.

The highlight today occurred when a taxi crashed at Melrose Drive near the start area. The second highlight was the use of a new set of place cards, prepared by Adrian Plunkett.

Richard Jukes was the time keeper today, Roger Palazzo ran again. John Busteed and Judy Kaleez again started early, and finished towards the back of
the field, looking a little cool, in the freezing conditions as they finished.

John Barret,s son , Michael on his school holidays had a run , wearing a soccer favorite's T-Shirt, Gerrard of Arsenal, Michael finished at the back of the field, is that a portent for Arsenal's fate?

A new runner was the first home, while John Hall was second, and Jeff King was third. Not sure of the team resuly, because of the freezing conditions at the finish presentations.
