Passport Renewal

Having recently made a flight booking, which for booking in purposes requires photo identification, I scrambled through my photo identification articles, and could only find an expired drivers licence, and an old, soon to be expired passport.

Hence it was decided that I must renew my passport, although I think you have a two year grace period to renew.

So, it was a phone call to the immigration depatment to have a new application form sent. Then off to the shopping centre to have a passport photo taken.

Done quickly at Foxys photos in Woden plaza.

Then off to the post office, to make an appointment for a passport interview.

The interview happens next week.

At the moment then, it is just a matter of waiting to see what happens next week ar the interview.

August Jogalong Results and report

AUGUST JOGALONG

Despite the coldest conditions for the year, there was still a good turnout across the three events with more than 200 people taking part.

In the 6 kilometre handicap event, the winner was Patricia Lee starting in Group 1. Patricia was competing in her 71st event and it was the first time she had ever been placed. Her time of 58 mins 57 secs was her fastest since September 2003. Second place went to Wendy Jaensch in 44 mins 35 secs, her fastest time for three years, and follows her win last month. Fiona Johnstone came third in a personal best time of 32 mins 9 secs. It was the third time that Fiona has been placed this year following her win in February and third placing in July.

The fastest time of the day of 26 mins 9 secs was recorded by Natalie Archer.

In the 3 kilometre mixed event, Jessica Wallace was first in 15 mins 30 secs. Second place went to Emma Lee in 18 mins 49 secs while James Parrett came in third.

In the Minijog, first across the line and the winner on handicap was Henry Wallace. Last month’s winner, Isobel McDonald came in second while Cooper Morgan was third.

POINTSCORE COMPETITION

With the best six runs counting towards the annual pointscore competition and August being the seventh event of the year, there have been big changes at the top of the competition table. Merilyn Bassett has jumped into the lead after six very consistent events and she has opened up an 18 point lead over Susannah Hiron. Previous leader, Diann Bramwell, has slipped back to third, 14 points further back. With four events still to go, there is still time for other people to make a move on the leaders, particularly those who have yet to compete in six events.

Learning to see the light

Following the government decision to change light globes to energy efficient varieties, our Chandelier light globes busted one globe.

So, where to get replacenent globes of the correct variety, size and type?

I settled on a visit to Project Lighting in Phillip, 36 Townshend Street, and took the blown globe in to the shop, and was served with a replacement of the correct type and size. I had the original box in which it came. It was only a question of how many did I want.

Now our chandelier works brightly, and I know where to get a replacemnt globe, when next required.

So convenient to Woden which is only a short distance from Woden Plaza by a bus ride away. I remember one of the Vets used to work there a few years ago, he is still a regular Vet runner, but now working elsewhere.

Plenty of light globes are also available in Woollies, and at Aldi in Woden , so it is a matter of reading what's on the packets and then making a selection.

Hope the decision helps the environment, so I'm making my contribution, but I'm not sure in what manner the contribution is being made, except through the hip pocket.

But I can see the light.

Love is in the Air

To borrow the title of a well known song.

The title is what I thought of for the title of this blog.

When Amanda and Jaimie were married at the Brisbane Botanical Gardens, wedding Garden on Saturday 8 August 2009, guests travelled from wide and far, from Queensland, Western Australia, Canberra and United States of America.

The wedding celebrant used a microphone, because of a slight cold in her throat.

Brisbane turned on excellent weather for the occasion, although it turned a little cooler after the occasion, when guests dispersed, and later gathered at the Suno Japanese restaurant, for a many course feast.

Many photos were taken and we will be enhanced before delivery. The wedding photographer has a web site, as is the vogue these days.

Several guests stayed in Brisbane at the M on Mary apartments, and spent time together, in celebration of the occasion.

Some visited Brisbane attractions, shops, and eateries, and altogether had an enjoyable time.
